About the country
Tajikistan is the most mountainous country of Central Asia: the Pamirs, the Roof of the World, rise in its east. Tajik is close to Persian and keeps the poetry of Rudaki, whose verses are still quoted by heart, along with the music of Shashmaqom and Falak.
